Well, I haven't updated the SevTorian Times in a while, so it's time I did just that.
First off, since my last entry some new work has been posted on SevTor.
So have a look...
Second, two new works are making their way to SevTor.
One short funny story inspired by a non-trek piece done by Odon long ago about Little Red Ridinghood - I've got a 6-foot-ish blonde "lil' Red" and a shorter half-Klingon Big Bad Wolf...
That piece is being checked for grammar/spelling right now, to weed out the worst screw-ups in that field.
Then there's a longer story making good progress, the story I've been sweating on for years now...
Yes, it really looks like ACOT (A Collective of Two) is finally getting completed!
My aim is to get ACOT done before the end of the year, but maybe it'll be the first days of 2010 in which it finally gets published.
And I swear, if another computer-crash or any techie crap blows this one out the window again, I'm going to physically, brutally, beat the living crap out of someone.

Third... SevTor's newsletter function has been repaired after a huge downtime.
When ACOT is done, I'm going to make regular updates here and in that newsletter.

Still no new stories posted on SevTor - I'm still messing with the formatting of two short pieces and started re-writing another story because when I re-read it, it just didn't have a "flow" in it... the story just wasn't progressing naturally, making the characters look out of place.
But... I did put up a new link that I came across while searching for material for that story I'm re-writing.
I do intend to -finally- post the new stories between tomorrow and upcoming Sunday.

Unfortunately, I don't have much news to mention regarding SevTor.
New content is still lined up to go through final editing (spellchecking, formatting) before getting posted, but I'm a bit bogged down in work so I'm not giving any guarantees on just when it will finally be posted.
On a sidenote I've been talking to someone I've worked with, and he asked me if I'd want some additional content on SevTor - he's written a couple of stories and did some fan-art of Seven and B'Elanna.
I'm willing to post some of his stories with full credits, but he's trying to get his own corner on SevTor with his own admin access, and that's something I'm not liking.
So that stuff is still very much in the "maybe, maybe not"-stage.
And that concludes this minor non-update type update.

Some more work is being done on SevTor.
I was hoping to add some more stories and other content today, but instead I find myself hunting for little errors in the CSS and other files that make the site work.
SevTor works perfectly as it is, it is just that when validating the site through W3C to check for compliance with webstandards, several warnings and non-critical error messages pop up.
SevTor is done in PHP, the validation tool was made for HTML/XHTML and CSS, but my webdesigner side wants to try and get rid of those warnings/error messages as soon as possible.
My webmaster/site-admin side, however, figures I'll never get all of them to dissapear, if any at all, and wants to clean up the code for the content that's waiting to be posted.
I'm not certain, but I think I'll put my money on the webmaster/admin side in a bet of which side is right... and when I get home I'll have a few William Lawsons while letting the webmaster side celebrate its victory by slapping the server with cleaned-up content.
So keep your eyes peeled and check it out often.

SevTor has undergone a big change since the previous format.
A change back to a CMS that used to run an old version, for several years up to 2007.
I even switched back to the same old skin, which involved digging up all the old stuff, then modifying it for use with the latest version of that CMS.

The change was important because it frees up time that I used on administering the CMS that was running SevTor up to last week, instead of using that time on content - such as stories and links.
And as an added bonus, switching to the "old" CMS allowed me to make the site bi-lingual - the stories remain English-only, unless I actually find the energy and time to translate stories to Dutch, but SevTor itself as a site is now bi-lingual.
And it became much simpeler and less time-consuming to add other content, such as links, a guestbook, and an actual news-section integrated into the site rather than a seperate page where I had to manually enter all the html for each update.
The change even allows me to add forums, galleries and other stuff in a matter of minutes if I'd want to.

So, if you haven't already checked it out, I'd say swing on by right now!

Welcome to this blog, titled SevTorian Times.
This blog is a companion to my website, SevTor, where I post my fanfiction stories in which I pair the characters Seven of Nine and B'Elanna Torres, from Star Trek Voyager.
I also post these stories on fanfiction.net but there might be some differences - corrections, different endings, other differences - between those stories as they get posted on different places.
The versions posted on SevTor will be the ones I'm most pleased with.

SevTor is an old site, but has been non-functional for some time due to technical issues initially, and later on for a prologed time due to issues with the time, effort and money I could invest in the site.
Long story short, I finally managed to get it back up, and for the first time since 1995 I actually hosted a site of my own on a server that was not my own.
The url isn't the same as the original, though I still have access to the old domain, it just isn't as practical anymore - I might use that for some side-project in the future, but for SevTor itself I'm sticking with the more practical solution.

The fanfiction I'm hosting on SevTor is all my own work, and it's femslash, meaning it (usually) pairs the main characters as lovers, though I might also post some works in which they are just friends or even adversaries.
Much of my work has humor in it, some is angsty, and I always try to put in some good romantic stuff.
So, be sure to check out SevTor.
